Moraine Lake HDR

Location: Located in Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake is about 45 minutes from Lake Louise. It is in Banff National Park. There is a very nice lodge on the lake.

Find the location: Copy the coordinates below. Open Google Earth, paste the coordinates into "Fly To" and click on the magnifying glass.

51° 19' 38.99" N
116° 10' 49.61" W

Equipment: Canon EOS 1DS Mark III with 16-35 lens, polarizing filter. Taken at f22 for 6 seconds and set at an ISO of 50.

Digital imaging/manipulation: HDR with Photomatrix 3.0.

Notes: Pictures taken from the surface of the lake tend to loose its color. A better vantage point in most cases is at the top of the moraine which essentially dams the lake. There is a trail off the parking lot that leads to the moraine top. A graduated neutral density filter is a real help here. HDR can adjust for marked contrast. You can adjust the HDR output as well.
